The Story Behind the Box
In the spring of 2017, the founder of Humanity Reboxed, Hunter Corbitt, attended a short-term
mission trip to the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. While on this mission trip, Hunter’s eyes
were opened to the isolation which a person who is experiencing homelessness encounters every
day. Once he returned home, Hunter was disturbed by the indifference people had towards this
population. In order to make these people feel seen, Hunter created Humanity Reboxed’s
outreach kits. The outreach kits were designed to be like a present neatly wrapped in a white box
with a handle. The handle made it easy to carry and can be reused to carry other personal items.
Using the information gathered from the people who he interacted with on the mission trip,
Hunter filled the outreach kits with the most requested items which included things such as
toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, and socks. The purpose of the outreach kits is to
provide this population with the basic items they may be in need of. They are also used as a
gateway for conversation and prayer. Humanity Reboxed was born with the intention to build
lasting friendships and trust with people who are unhoused.
Why do we exist?
Humanity Reboxed exists to intervene on the cycle of poverty through individual relationships, rehabilitation, and community development.
We strive...
to provide immediate relief to those experiencing homelessness in crisis;
to cater to the rehabilitation needs of a homeless person;
to provide emotional and spiritual support through interaction;
to sponsor, host and/or participate in events and activities that benefits those in need.
Our Beliefs
We believe in the Christian faith as a source of hope, and use it in our daily interactions with those experiencing homelessness. We strive to have an experienced Pastor or Church Leader on our outreach trips.
